Welcome to the Wisconsin Women in Higher Education Leadership (WWHEL) Website!

As women in higher education leadership, we each have an important role to play in cultivating and mentoring women leaders as well as positively affecting Wisconsin's transition to a global, knowledge-based economy.   We bring an appreciative, positive, and authentic leadership style to our endeavors in post secondary education.  By leading with humility, kindness, and compassion we model mindful behaviors for future women leaders.

When an advisor supports a student parent on her challenging path through school, when a faculty member mentors an undergraduate researcher or community college student, when a bench scientist dedicates her time to bringing a new drug to market, women in higher education are having a positive impact on Wisconsin's economy.

Higher education is an essential ingredient for the knowledge-based economy. Our work translates into a more educated citizenry, into more jobs for Wisconsin, and into new businesses that are attracted to a highly skilled workforce and the cutting-edge research produced by universities.

WWHEL contributes to Wisconsin’s economy and overall well-being by supporting the continuous learning, advancement, and support of current and aspiring women leaders in higher education. I encourage you to become involved at the local, state, and national level to strengthen, develop, and support women leaders.

As the current 2011-2013 President of the WWHEL Board of Directors I welcome you to our website, where you can learn more about the opportunities for growth offered through WWHEL. These opportunities are made possible by the institutional sponsors that support the WWHEL activities through the
Leadership, Support, Challenge, Associate, and Participant Circles.
