Leadership Opportunities

 

AAC&U Institute on Campus Leadership for Sustainable Innovation. - A weeklong experience for teams of faculty members and an academic administrator to create learning-centered institutions. (Greater Expectations Initiative.)

 

ACE (OWHE) National Forums - play an important role in the continuing identification and promotion of women for senior-level positions, especially presidencies. Forums are invitational and are held twice each year. Approximately 200 of the over 1,000 women who have attended a Forum have subsequently become college or university presidents.

 

ACE (OWHE) Presidents' Roundtable, - a program of the Office of Women in Higher Education, provides college presidents with the opportunity to network, share perspectives on a particular topic or concern, consult with ACE on presidential staying poser, and contribute their observations to the Roundtable.

 

ACE's (OWHE) Leadership Development Service - is for individuals at the Department Chair , Directors level, and above who are interested in being considered for leadership development opportunities.

 

Asian Pacific American Women's Leadership Institute - has a variety of leaderships programs to address the challenges facing Asian American and Pacific Islander women and to nurture trusteeship within their communities.

 

Chairing the Academic Department, - a program within ACE's Center for Institutional and International Initiatives (CIII), is designed for division and department chairs and deans and focuses on departmental leadership. These workshops seek to support the development of the chair as an academic leader within the department and within the institution as a whole.

 

Foundations of Leadership - is for managers in the early stages of their leadership careers, as well as more experienced managers who haven't had a leadership training experience and would like to start with the fundamentals. The program teaches the basics of effective leadership, focusing on personal awareness and growth, working relationships, influence skills and conflict resolution. It creates a foundation for understanding the challenges facing a new manager and for helping the individual improve leadership skills and behaviors at the formative stage in his or her career. Offered by the Center for Creative Leadership.

 

Higher Education Resource Services (HERS) and the Bryn Mawr Summer Institute for Women in Higher Education - offers women faculty and administrators intensive training in education administration pertinent to the management and governance of colleges and universities. It is designed to improve the status of women in middle and executive levels of higher education administration.

 

IEM - is designed for the most senior-level administrators. Examine critical leadership issues at colleges and universities. Learn effective approaches to balancing internal and external leadership roles; leading in a changing context; articulating a powerful vision for your institution; and enlisting others in the vision.

 

Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics, Inc. (LEAP) - offers leadership training programs to advance a comprehensive strategy of Asian Pacific Americans.

 

NASPA (Students Affairs Administrators in Higher Education) - provides professional development, promotes exemplary practices by helping senior student affairs officers and administrators, student affairs professionals, faculty, and other educators enhance student learning and development.

 

OWHE - Office of Women in Higher Education

 

The African-American Leadership Program - is a program for experienced African-American managers designed to stimulate a process of growth that will help each participant become more successful and productive. In addition, it offers a secure forum for African -American professionals to explore, in a substantive way, those issues that impact their career objectives. Individuals evaluate their own leadership styles, discuss how others perceive their effectiveness, and receive guidance in developing realistic, practical and effective plans for personal and professional growth. Offered by the Center for Creative Leadership.

 

The American Council on Education (ACE) Fellows Program - is a year-long higher education leadership development program. It identifies and prepares senior faculty and administrators seeking to strengthen higher education through leadership development. Email at fellows@ace.nche.edu

 

The Center for Creative Leadership - offers a variety of leadership programs. These programs are held in several locations throughout the country.

 

The Gannon Center for Women and Leadership (Loyola University of Chicago) - promotes women's studies programs and progress and provides archives documenting women in leadership and education. It contributes to the development of women as scholars and leaders by providing outstanding role models and mentors, and by offering resources and research data enabling women to expand their contributions to the workplace, academia, and the community.

 

The Management Development Program (MDP) of Harvard University - is designed for deans, directors, and other administrators who are good at leading their units by want to improve. Participants gain useful ideas about the critical management issues they face including budgeting, human resource development planning, and effective leadership.

 

The MLE Leading Transformation and Change - is a two-week institute offered by the Harvard School of Graduate Education for skilled, experienced administrators, including deans, directors, provosts, and vice presidents who will help their institution adapt to a changing future. The National Hispana Leadership Institute - is a nonpartisan, nonprofit, organization. It is committed to the education and leadership development of Hispanic women.

 

The Women's Leadership Program - is for women in middle- and senior-level managerial positions and focuses on issues and perceptions surrounding women's leadership and work experiences. Offered by the Center for Creative Leadership.
