Biography
Ewa Barczyk was appointed Interim Director
of the UWM Libraries in August, 2003. Prior to this recent
appointment, she was the associate director of UWM Libraries
for the past five years. Ms. Barczyk has worked in various
positions at UWM's Libraries since 1985. Before coming to
UWM, she worked as adult reference librarian at the
Shorewood Public Library, and in the libraries of Yale
University.
In her current position she is responsible
for overseeing all the UWM libraries and providing services
and resources to meet the curricular and research needs of
the campus. Ewa Barczyk is an active promoter of library
services, resource sharing, and copyright and licensing
issues through campus and community contacts, and her work
with local, state and national professional organizations.
She is involved with the American Library Association, is an
officer of the statewide academic library association,
Wisconsin Association of Academic Librarians, and is chair
of the UW-Milwaukee campus chapter of WWHEL.
Ms. Barczyk's degrees include M.L.S.,
Southern Connecticut State University, and M.A., University
of Kansas, Slavic and Soviet Area Studies. Her undergraduate
degree is in psychology from Loyola University, Chicago.
