Biography
Dr. Deborah B. Cureton is dean and campus executive
officer at the University of Wisconsin -Richland, a post
she's held since July 2001.
Dr. Cureton came to UW-Richland from the University of
South Carolina Lancaster, where she was associate campus
dean. Prior to that, she served the Lancaster campus, a
regional campus of the University of South Carolina, as
director of academic support services and as a professor,
teaching education, developmental studies, and freshman
seminar courses.
She holds a Ph.D. from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison., and master's and bachelor's degrees from
the University of South Carolina. Her master's degree is in
reading education and her bachelor's in French education.
Her career in education began in the early 1970s when she
served as a teacher to third and fourth grade students.
Dean Cureton has served and continues to serve on many
committees and boards that focus on public policy, program
development and administration related to education. She is
the author of articles related to education. A major focus
of her work has been building programs that foster her
passion-which is student success.
