Christine Clements
1st Term: Concludes October 2009
Chris Clements is currently the Interim Provost and Vice Chancellor
for Academic Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She
served as the Dean of the College of Business & Economics from July 2002
until August 2008. Prior to that, she served as interim dean for one
year, chair of the Management Department for six years and spent one
year as a Fellow in the Provost’s office. She has been a member of the
faculty at UW-W since 1990. Before coming to UW-Whitewater, she was on
the faculty at North Dakota State University for four years.
Chris currently serves on the Pre-accreditation Committee and the
Nominating Committee for AACSB International (Association to Advance
Collegiate Schools of Business) and the Board of Directors for Milwaukee
FEI (Financial Executives International). She served as Chair of the
Women Administrators in Management Education (WAME) AACSB International
Affinity Group and as a member of the WAME Steering Committee.
Chris has a Ph.D. in Management from the University of Arkansas, an
MBA from UW-La Crosse and a B. A. from UW-Madison in Political Science
and Scandinavian Studies. Before becoming dean, she taught graduate and
undergraduate courses in Organizational Behavior, Leadership, and
Organization Theory & Effectiveness. She has presented and published
research primarily in the areas of Leadership, Gender Issues in the
Workplace, and Organization Theory and Design, and has been involved in
the development of corporate training programs in team building and
conflict management.
Personal Notes
Chris is married to Will Drago, who is a Professor of Strategic
Management at UW-Whitewater, and has three children. Her son just
completed his service in the Army and is making plans to attend college.
Chris also has two teenage daughters, one of whom is a hockey player.
They help her maintain her sense of balance, as well as her sense of
humor.
