Biography
Dr. Barbara Nemecek is the Founding
Dean and Professor of Marketing at the College of Business &
Economics, University of Wisconsin - River Falls. She came
to UWRF from four years as Dean, College of Business,
Montana State University - Billings. Previously Dr. Nemecek
served as Department Chair - Management & Marketing
Department, University of Nebraska - Kearney, and in a
number of faculty and administrative positions at the
University of Minnesota including MBA Coordinator and
Continuing Education Coordinator - Marketing Department in
the Carlson School of Management. In addition to her
academic experience, she has worked in management positions
in the field of retailing with Filene's - Boston and Carson,
Pirie, Scott & Co. - Chicago, and in the field of executive
search.
Dr. Nemecek currently holds Board of
Director positions on the following organizational Boards:
AACSB, International (Association to Advance Collegiate
Schools of Business); Sigma Beta Delta (International
Business Honor Society), MMA Foundation (Marketing
Management Association Foundation) – Secretary/Treasurer;
Society for Case Research (Past President); and the MBAA
(Midwest Business Administration Association) Advisory
Board. In addition, Dr. Nemecek has been active in
numerous organizations involved in economic development in
Wisconsin, Montana and Nebraska. Most recently she served
on the Board of Directors for the St Croix Economic
Development Corporation, the Pierce County Economic
Development Corporation (President), the Montana State
Chamber of Commerce, the Montana Ambassadors Board of
Directors, and various corporate and community boards. Dr.
Nemecek holds BS and MS degrees in Clothing, Textiles and
Design from the University of Wisconsin - Stout, and a PhD
in Marketing from the University of Minnesota.
